Clerk: Revenue

We’re excited to offer a permanent position for a Clerk: Revenue to join our team at our Support Centre in Kuilsriver, Cape Town. You’ll be part of our dynamic Finance team, working in-office alongside a diverse group of professionals. Reporting directly to the Accountant: Revenue, you’ll play a crucial role in analyzing and reconciling store revenue transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Reconciliation 1.1 Cash
    • Daily reconciliation of cash bankable amount per store to bank statement amount
    • Follow up on exceptions with banks & CIT company
    • Correct and release deposits, surpluses, and shortages with incorrect store reference numbers
    • Prepare and post journals for unmapped bank entries 1.2 Card
    • Daily reconciliation of card transactions between third parties and point of sale information
    • Follow up on exceptions with banks, gift card providers, and value-added services 1.3 GL Reconciliation
    • Perform revenue general ledger reconciliations
    • Analyze root cause of reconciliation variances & recommend corrective actions 1.4 Sales Clearing
    • Weekly balancing of sales clearing general ledger account
    • Investigate and resolve variances on weekly sales balancing
  2. Administration 2.1 Buy Aid
    • Prepare and post monthly buy aid commission and sales journals 2.2 Audit Team / Operations
    • Confirm stores’ banking status with internal audit team
    • Provide accurate supporting documents to external audit team 2.3 Record Keeping
    • File business documents & save electronic documents in compliance with POPIA 2.4 Journals
    • Posting of accrual journals as per accounting system requirements 2.5 Trend Analysis
    • Identify trends in cash & card reconciliation differences

Qualifications Required:

Essential:

  • Grade 12 (Accounting and Mathematics)

Preferred:

  • Relevant Finance Diploma / Certificate

Knowledge Required:

  • Financial Reconciliations
  • Balancing store sales to point of sale
  • Basic accounting principles

Experience Required:

Essential:

  • 1-2 years’ relevant finance administration experience, including strong reconciliation experience

Preferred:

  • Retail experience
