🧯 Job Purpose
The Senior Firefighter will be responsible for responding to and managing fire-related incidents, emergency rescues, hazardous material incidents, and providing basic medical care. The role focuses on protecting lives, property, and client assets through effective firefighting, prevention, training, and operational readiness.
✅ Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Responding to fire, rescue, hazmat, and emergency incidents

Conducting firefighting and emergency rescue operations

Operating and maintaining firefighting vehicles, equipment, and apparatus

Rendering basic medical care, resuscitation, and emergency treatment

Performing fire prevention duties, inspections, and safety audits

Training employees on fire safety theory and practical firefighting

Participating in training drills, simulations, and fitness programmes

Completing incident reports, logs, and administrative documentation

Ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Supervising and mentoring junior firefighters

Driving and operating heavy and extra-heavy fire appliances

🎓 Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Grade 12 (Matric) – minimum qualification

IFSAC Accredited

NFPA 1001 – Firefighter II Certification

Firefighter II qualification

2–3 years firefighting experience (essential)

Valid Code C1 driver’s licence with PrDP

Hazmat experience and knowledge (essential)

First Aid Levels 1–3

Basic Ambulance Attendant (BAA)
